Tip of the Month

BE SAFE IN THE WINTER WEATHER

With the winter weather upon us, we think about staying warm, but we also need to stay safe.  It's easy to lose body temperature if proper precautions aren't taken.  When inside the house, keep the heat on at least 68 degrees even through the night as the temperature can drop drastically overnight.  You can be extra warm by keeping a blanket handy to throw over you or wear socks when you go to bed.
Winter weather doesn't mean you have to stay indoors.  You can still get out for some exercise, but you just have to take the right precautions. When outside the house, make sure you have enough layers on to keep out all the elements. Bundle up in a wind and waterproof warm coat. Boots will keep your feet dry and warm; gloves, a scarf and hat help to keep your extremities warm. Loss of body heat can lead to hypothermia which is very harmful.
