Tip of the Month

FAMILY CAREGIVER WEEK IS MAY 5 - 11

A family caregiver is a person who provides assistance to someone who is chronically ill or disabled and who is not able to care for themselves. The family caregiver usually receives no compensation. You may be helping a relative, a friend or even a neighbour. Even though many people do not recognize themselves as being a family caregiver, the act of helping someone on a regular basis, while rewarding, can be stressful. There are many resources available for family caregivers in the form of support and education, from free tele-workshops to workshops for a small fee. To find more information, please go to the Family Caregiver Network Society website at www.familycaregiversnetwork.orgm.
